This is a fantastic little set for outside on the griddle. The knife is super short durable has good bounce in your hand and is great with the included little cutting board for diced up some veggies on the griddle. The knife is super Sharp the peeler works exceptionally well and the scissors can cut through chicken legs no problem. I'd say it's a great value for the money this has a permit home out by my griddle and I love it, a+.
We do quite a bit of camping and spend a lot of time at outdoor archery events where we set up a small kitchen area and prepare food for the team. A compact cutting set like this made a lot of sense for us, and overall I have been relatively happy with it.The biggest advantage is how well everything is organized. The cutting board doubles as the storage case for the knife, scissors and peeler, and the entire setup then fits into the included carry bag. It keeps everything together instead of having loose kitchen tools scattered around a camping tote. The board itself is a decent size for basic food prep without taking up much room when packed. The knife is a Santoku-style blade and includes its own protective sheath. I like the general size and shape for camp cooking, but the factory edge on mine was not especially good. Looking closely at the blade, the edge was somewhat rough and uneven, which can also be seen in the close-up photographs. I ended up putting it through one of my better sharpeners before I was happy with it. Once sharpened it cuts fine, although I am not convinced the steel will hold an edge as long as a better-quality kitchen knife. The scissors are actually a nice addition and include a serrated section along with some additional features around the handles. They have worked fine for the general food-prep tasks we have tried. The peeler is probably the least popular part of the set for us. The shape is a little unusual and none of us particularly like how it feels compared with a conventional vegetable peeler. There is also a removable-looking round section toward the upper end that initially had us wondering what it was for. According to the product information, this is intended as a citrus opener. It adds another function, although I still think the overall peeler design is somewhat awkward. The photographs also give a better idea of how compact everything becomes once it is nested into the cutting board. For camping, outdoor events, RV use or keeping a basic food-prep kit in a vehicle, I really like the overall concept.Pros:• Complete basic food-prep kit in a compact package• Cutting board doubles as organized storage• Includes knife sheath and separate carry bag• Scissors are more versatile than standard kitchen scissors• Good overall value at the cost at the time of my reviewCons:• Knife needed sharpening before I was happy with the edge• Blade finishing is somewhat rough when viewed closely• Peeler design is awkward compared with a conventional one• Overall tool quality is decent rather than premiumFor the cost at the time of my review, I think this is a good little camping kitchen set. I would not buy it expecting high-end cutlery, but for occasional outdoor cooking it gives you the tools you are most likely to need, keeps them organized, and takes up very little space. We will definitely continue using it at our outdoor events.
This compact camping kitchen set worked great for basic food prep. The Santoku knife, scissors, vegetable peeler, and cutting board cover the essentials for cooking at a campsite, in an RV, or while traveling, without having to bring a full kitchen drawer along. The tools themselves performed well and made preparing meals outdoors much easier. The knife handled normal cutting tasks, and having the peeler and scissors included is more convenient than I expected. My only concern is the storage case and bag. They do not seem especially durable, so I would be careful with them and would not expect the carrying setup to hold up forever with frequent rough camping use. I guess that's why it's the value for the money that it is. Fairly good.Overall, this is a useful, compact cooking kit that works well. The tools are the strong point; just be aware that the case and bag feel like the weak link.
This little cooking utensil set is supposed to be for camping with most everything you would need to cook meals while out in the middle of the forest or wherever you camp. The set includes a 5-inch Santoku knife (with cover), a pair of kitchen shears (with included bottle opener), and a vegetable peeler. Those three tools come inside a plastic case that doubles as a cutting board that has a dinky little area that you can supposedly use for grating things. There is also a piece that holds all the utensils in place and includes a pretty crappy little knife sharpener that would likely do more damage to your knife than sharpen it. (Do your knife a favor - sharpen at home on a better sharpener before you leave so you don't have to use this.)As far as a "camping" set goes, it isn't bad. With these three utensils, you can pretty much prep any vegetable you might eat while camping. It certainly won't allow you do make intricately carved vegetables for garnishes but it is perfectly serviceable for prepping camp food. While the cutting board is VERY small, it is also serviceable and double-sided (more on that below). It even includes a ruler so you can, I don't know, ensure your vegetables are all the same size. That is, if you could see it.That brings me to the biggest complaint I have about this set - it's ALL BLACK. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself. However, when you are camping, light is usually not great. Maybe you have a headlamp or a flashlight and maybe you built a campfire but there still isn't going to be light like in a kitchen. Set one of these black tools down somewhere dark and you'll be hard-pressed to find it again. It would have been much better had the company made these out of a color that is easier to see in the dark. How are the tools themselves? Eh, not bad, not great. The knife is unevenly sharp. There's a pretty sharp section in the middle of the blade but the blade nearest the handle isn't very sharp at all so this needed to be run through my sharpener before I even used it. The shears are good enough and are probably the most useful tool in the bunch since they can power through almost anything you need to cut. They also have an attached bottle opener in the handle and come apart for easier cleaning. The weakest link is the vegetable peeler. Its plastic handle is awkwardly shaped and it has a weird round part on the top that actually detaches from the peeler. Usually peelers have potato eye removers but this one is way too big for that. It isn't clear to me what that is for. There's a sharp pointed plastic piece that looks like it's meant for some purpose but I cannot figure it out. Maybe another reviewer will be able to explain this. I certainly cannot. The set has no written instructions/explanations.Overall, the set isn't bad. The way the tools fit into the cutting board/case is clever and works well. Not sure the included bag is necessary since you have the hard case but YMMV. The case is meant to be used as TWO cutting boards, one for vegetables and one for meat. That's nice so you don't cross contaminate. I think the dinky little grater is next to useless and I doubt anyone will be able to see the ruler on the cutting board on a black board in the DARK.Not a bad set, not a great one either. I think if this company had a better (more logical) peeler design and had sharpened the knife blade better, the tools would be better. And, overall, if they had chosen a lighter color considering dark campgrounds, then this would have been easier to see when camping. So I'm deducting a star for those things. 4 stars.
Six-Star Camping Kitchen SetI'm an (old school) eagle scout from the '80s/'90s with tons of back woods camping, wilderness survival and backpacking experience. This is one of those products where the manufacturer managed to pack a ridiculous amount of functionality into a very small kit. Easily stored and cleaned. I honestly give this one six stars if I could. You get a cutting board, Santoku knife, scissors, and vegetable peeler, but the clever details are what really make it stand out. The cutting board has a built-in section specifically for grinding garlic cloves, along with markings/designations for preparing meat and fruits. It’s clear that someone actually thought about how the kit would be used rather than simply putting four kitchen tools in a bag.The cutting board separates into two pieces that lock together to form a compact storage case for the tools. Everything then fits into a sturdy, breathable mesh storage bag with a drawstring closure. That makes this especially useful for camping, RV trips, picnics, or anywhere you don't want loose kitchen utensils wandering around your gear.Compact, clever, and genuinely useful. This is one of those rare little kits where every feature actually earns its place.
I am an outdoorsman and I am always interested in new camping gear. I have a particular weakness for buying knives and have quite a collection of cutting tools. So when I saw this Rugged Sear Camping Kitchen Knife Set, 4-Piece Compact Cooking Tool Set with Santoku Knife on Amazon Vine, I knew I had to get it.This is a great set for backpacking and car camping and would be perfect for a motorhome. Its compact design is packed with great tools and smart features. The whole kit fits securely into a case that functions as both cutting board and a food tray. The scissors are rugged and muti function and come apart like good kitchen shears for proper cleaning. The knife is a full-sized Santoku blade that works for meat, vegetables and fruit. This blade is sharp and well honed. The kit also has a great vegetable slicer / peeler which probably will get a lot of use if you like to eat like I do when I am outdoors. Basically this is just a great culinary set for people that like to camp or even for a picnic. The price at $31 seems fantastic. I would expect to pay twice that or more at an outdoors store like REI or Cabelas.
The Rugged Sear 4-Piece Camping Kitchen Set is a wonderfully practical companion for anyone who enjoys preparing real meals in the great outdoors. Bringing together a Santoku knife, kitchen scissors, vegetable peeler, and cutting board, this compact set puts several useful food-preparation tools in one convenient package. It feels like a thoughtful solution for campers who want more than the bare essentials without packing an entire kitchen. The Santoku knife is particularly useful for slicing and chopping, while the kitchen scissors provide another handy option for quick food-preparation tasks. The vegetable peeler rounds out the set nicely, and the cutting board provides a dedicated surface for preparing ingredients. Together, the pieces create a versatile little workstation that can make campsite cooking feel much more organized.I especially appreciate the convenience of having complementary tools designed to travel together. Whether preparing vegetables, slicing ingredients, or getting a meal ready beside the campfire, this set helps bring a sense of order and efficiency to outdoor cooking.Overall, the Rugged Sear 4-piece Camping Kitchen Set is a smart, versatile, and convenient addition to camping gear. It combines useful preparation tools in a compact package and makes outdoor meal preparation feel easier and more enjoyable. For campers who appreciate good food and practical equipment, this set earns an easy five-star recommendation.
I’m really impressed with this cutlery kit. I have a friend who will soon be starting his new life in a small efficiency apartment, and this will be a perfect cutlery set for him. It offers all the cutlery his little kitchen will need to prepare food, and it’s in a compact package. The case is made of very tough plastic, and each side can serve as a cutting board. The scissors are made to cut food and can be disassembled for cleaning and sharpening. The vegetable peeler is a vital item in any kitchen and is made to function as you would hope. The knife, wow, is it ever sharp. This is not surprising given that it is a Japanese Soku. This is a company devoted to making sharp, durable knives.Unlike so many things that come to me from the internet stores, this comes in a nice box. The set includes not only the cutting board case but also a bag with draw strings which could be used to hang the case on a wall if drawer space is at a premium. Two very nice additions are a knife sharpener, and one handle of the scissors has a built-in bottle cap opener. Slick. No doubt about it; this cutlery set is designed to get the most out of a compact package.
